EC/CCNR workshop on new markets

This event, which was held in Brussels on June 24, enabled to explore how Europe's energy and circular transition may reshape freight flows and create new opportunities for inland waterway transport. The presentations are now available on the CCNR Market Observation website. A follow-up report will be published in February 2027.

Plenary session spring 2026

On June 11, 2026, during its spring plenary session in Strasbourg, the CCNR adopted several significant measures for navigation on the Rhine: definitive regulations for the use of a TGAIN, more flexible medical monitoring of crew members, advances in automated navigation, and concrete decisions to improve navigation conditions on the Rhine.

Use of TGAIN

The CCNR adopted a temporary provision to regulate the use of track guidance assistants for inland navigation (TGAIN) on the Rhine. The new temporary provision will come into force on 1 June 2026 and will apply until 31 December 2027 to vessels or convoys fitted with a TGAIN.
